FACT OR FICTION: Did Humans actually evolve from Primates (i.e. monkeys, chimps, etc...). New evidence says NO! A recently discovered skeleton of an ancient human-like ancestor (named Ardi) suggests that primates are in fact a separate branch of evolution from an EVEN OLDER ancestor. Ardi's remains outdate any human or primate fossil ever found by at least 1.2 million years. So what does this mean?... At one point in time, Humans and Primates were "combined" within one unique species. How do we know this?... Because Ardi has both human and primate features: it walks upright, yet has feet that can grasp and hang from branches. Somewhere along the line, Ardi's great-great-great...(no one know's how many "great's") grandchildren evolved into at least two distinct species - Primates and Humans. Thus disproving the old theory that humans descended directly from primates.
